Why Rent?
One of the most common questions parents ask is, "Why don't I just buy the instrument?" This is always an option, but here are the reasons most parents choose to rent:
Option To Quit
Many parents are hesitant to invest in an instrument purchase when the child may only take Orchestra for 1-2 years.
Child Is Still Growing
Most students begin orchestra in 5th and 6th grade, and many are not ready for a full size instrument. Renting allows you to exchange instrument sizes according to your child's needs until they can comfortably play a full size instrument.
Purchase A Quality Instrument When The Child Is Ready
When kids are learning proper care of their instrument, they are able to practice on a rental that is designed for learning technique. In junior high, when the child is fully grown, when you know of their intention to stay in Orchestra, and when they have learned good care of an instrument, you may purchase one which is designed to have a good tone. In short, you don't have to purchase an expensive instrument outright, and you don't have to purchase a cheaper instrument that they will eventually outperform. SEE MARKERS OF QUALITY.
