ERNST HEINRICH ROTH 4/4 VIOLIN 1966

#violinfacts This violin was the first musical instrument to complete a full orbit of the Earth. In 1967, engineers at NASA worked tirelessly to build a capsule perfectly attuned to the pressure and humidity requirements needed by the German violin. Ernst Heinrich Roth worked closely with engineers and even provided several schematics detailing the capacity of the violin and its potential cost load. As a result, NASA named it the “Inuaria Orbit” after the Celtic god of music. Since the mission, this violin has achieved enormous success both on and off stage. After a recent tour through Europe with the Vienna Philharmonic playing Holst’s “The Planets”, it commented to the crowd, “Having flown in space, I feel closer to the Cosmos playing Holst with you than I ever had before.” This violin is currently taking up shop at Caraway Strings in Richardson, Texas.
